The state-of-the-art test we perform in our office is computerized, and uses a painless probe to test all 12 of the main meridians. The probe is placed on the most active acupuncture points on each meridian, on both the right and left sides of the body. The points are in the area of the wrists, hands and feet. The probe measures electrical activity on each point and gives a value on a scale of 0-200. The 24 values will then be averaged to give the patient a baseline. Any value within 15 points of the baseline is considered normal. Values outside of that range are abnormal and will be treated with acupuncture in order to bring that meridian into balance. The exam provides valuable information in order to know what meridians need treated. Follow-up exams then show the progress made or any changes that need to be made to your treatment.
